About the Event

Join the Austin Sobering Center team for a presentation on the recent expansion of their facility and services with the opening of a newly renovated second floor.
 
The second-floor expansion adds 14 beds for individuals awaiting treatment, creating a dedicated space for short-term stabilization and connection to services. This addition significantly increases the center’s capacity to safely support individuals under the influence while they await treatment placement, strengthening the community’s response to substance use crises.
 

During this presentation, the Austin team will share:

  • The vision and planning process behind the second-floor expansion
  • How the additional beds increase system capacity and reduce strain on emergency services
  • Lessons learned from designing a space focused on stabilization and treatment connection
  • How the expansion supports a continuum of care for individuals experiencing substance use crises

Ashlyn Branscum, LMSW

Program Manager
The Sobering Center Austin

Ashlyn Branscum is the Program Manager at The Sobering Center and a Licensed Master Social Worker. She was previously the Development and Communications Manager for the center and has been with the organization for four years. She has a Bachelor’s in Social Work from St. Edward’s University and a Master’s in Social Work with a focus in administration and policy practice from The University of Texas at Austin. Ashlyn is passionate about diverting people from the criminal justice system and making sure they are provided access to the services that allow them to better themselves and obtain their goals, regardless of their substance use. She previously interned doing policy research for the Texas Center for Justice and Equity.
